Susie Reed – When is the right moment to do the Botox treatment?

Are there any consequences of using Botox?

There is no specific age as to when one should start Botox treatments. While some may use Botox as prevention at an early age, most people wait until wrinkles have already formed to seek Botox treatments to reduce these lines. They may require more units and more frequent treatments to achieve and maintain their desired results. So the best time to get Botox is whenever you feel it is necessary.

All neurotoxins (Botox treatments) have a black box warning about the distal spread effect of injections, although there is little concern about the safety of Botox for approved cosmetic uses, when they are used as directed. The FDA,  requires that patients are warned of the risks anyway.

The most common side effects of Botox are flu-like symptoms and brow and lid ptosis. If the Botox injection is accidentally injected into the bloodstream, it has been reported some people experience flu-like symptoms for a couple of days. Brow and lid ptosis are usually caused by the placement of the injections, rather than migration or spread.
